Homemade Salsa


This homemade salsa recipe beats any store bought salsa by a mile! It's quick, easy and healthy so you definitely won't feel guilty when you can't put the tortilla chips away ;) Made with fresh tomatoes, cilantro, onions, jalapeños and a variety of flavourful spices! So FRESH and so DELICIOUS


Ingredients


8-10 Tomatoes (Roma or Vine)

1 onion, chopped

2 jalapeños

1/4 cup lemon juice or white vinegar

1/3 bunch of fresh cilantro, chopped

1.5 teaspoon garlic powder

1 teaspoon ground cumin

1 teaspoon ground coriander

1.5 teaspoon salt

1 tablespoon brown sugar (optional)

Hot sauce for added heat and flavour (optional) I like to add a few splashes of Cholula.


Directions


Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Place all of the tomatoes into the water to loosen skins for about 30 seconds or until the skin begins to pull back. Drain, peel and place in a food processor. Pulse until the tomatoes are roughly chopped then add back into the pot. Chop onions, jalapeños and cilantro in food processor then add to the pot with the tomatoes. Mix in all of the spices and vinegar or lemon juice. Bring to a boil then reduce heat to medium/low heat and let cook for about 3 hours, stirring occasionally.
